UPDATED:- What a fabulous concert with the Doncaster Youth Stageband!!!
22-10-2017

Once again, for the third year running, on Saturday 21st October the choir performed in a concert at Bentley Pavilion, Doncaster, alongside the amazing Doncaster Youth Stageband, an event we always enjoy. And once again, under the enthusiastic and inspirational leadership of John Ellis MBE the band did not disappoint!

The amazing young talent filled the auditorium with their brilliant renditions of Jazz Classics as well as more contemporary tracks such as Deep Purple’s “Smoke On The Water” and Lady Ga Ga’s “Bad Romance”.
When the youngsters launched into their version of The Champs’ “Tequila!” , Barnburgh MVC (with the unrestrained help of an appreciative audience!) literally had the last word!

The sheer enthusiasm and professionalism of all the band members was totally refreshing, and the various solos were superbly presented with verve, and were well appreciated by all present.

I don’t know what it is about singing with the DYS but we always seem to manage to up our game and Saturday was no exception. It is probably true to say it was our best all round performance for some time, including “You are So Beautiful”, “Nessun Dorma”, “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “American Trilogy”.

The evening ended with a rousing participatory rendition of Land Of Hope And Glory.

Truly a night to remember!!

Our thanks to the young musicians of DYS, their MD John Ellis and, as ever, our own MD Andris Ugulis and our accompanist Mandy Jones.
