Cabaret Time for BMVC

Cabaret Time for BMVC
16-05-2015

The Choir kicked off the new 2015 Concert Season in style with a cabaret style fund raising event at Campsall, Doncaster, where in addition to their musical contribution the Choir were able to partake in the delicious cheeses available complemented with very palatable wine.

A packed house and appreciative audience were entertained with a variety of songs including some new numbers for 2015.  The male voice choir arrangement of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ is excellent and is destined to become a choir favourite.

Our soloists were in good voice.  Brian entranced the audience with his rendition of ‘If I Loved You’ and Neil serenaded us with ‘Love is a Many Splendid Thing’.  Our very own Lennon and McCartney in the guise of Paul and Adrian launched their 2015 season with the classic ‘If I Fell In Love With You’

Guy held the audience enthralled with his Dylan Thomas monologue and our MC Brian was in good form with his own brand of wit and humour.

Thanks should go to our MD Andris and accompanist Janina for all their hard work through the winter months in bringing the choir up to another level in terms of performance and programme of songs.

I think the reaction and appreciation of the audience can be encapsulated in the attached letter of thanks from Jill Shaw on behalf the management committee of Campsall Village Hall.

Please pass on  my sincere thanks to the choir, the Musical Director, the pianist and the Master of Ceremonies for the excellent entertainment we enjoyed at Campsall Village Hall earlier this month. It was really appreciated by all who attended.

Since the event I’ve had lots of positive feedback, even from  some people who said, “I didn’t think I’d  like a choir and only came to support the village hall, but I thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening.” Praise indeed!

Others took the trouble to telephone their thanks or pull up at the kerbside when they saw me walking the dog, all delighted with what they’d heard and seen. Some expressed amazement at the talent, the harmony, the discipline, the variety of material, the sensitivity of the Dylan Thomas reading, the wit of the MC, the skill of the pianist and the hypnotic artistry of the conductor (well, that’s the gist of the comments, anyway).

So – thanks once again for providing us with such an enjoyable evening.

 Yours sincerely,

Jill Shaw (Campsall Village Hall Management Committee)
