One of the Choir members who has stood out in the previous month is given a once-over under the spotlight!

Stanislav Peskovic

Stanislav, or "Stan" as he is better known joined the choir last September having newly moved to the area. Stan left his native city of Bucharest, in Rumania, looking for a bright future and found employment in the Doncaster branch of B.H.S selling lampshades.

Stan has worked very hard to learn his parts in the second tenor line, although he does struggle somewhat with the language....he says he prefers the Welsh Hymns as Rumanian is practically the same as Welsh.

You probably wont have seen Stan at any of our concerts, he does sing in them but has to sit on the floor at the back in case immigration officers are in the audience (we are surprisingly popular with this particular government department).Could be the number of Welsh people who hang around us.

Let me explain : Stan was arrested in Bucharest for singing "Pedro the fisherman" without a license, He managed to escape from the local jug and hitched-hiked his way across Europe and stumbled on Barnburgh Choir on their recent expedition to Amsterdam.

Stan was made welcome and was smuggled into the U.K. in our piano case. The rest is history. So well done Stan and welcome to Barnburgh.
