Fund raising Concert at the Church of St Leonard's and St. Jude's
On Friday 14TH November, The Choir performed at St. Leonard's and St. Jude's in Scawsby, Doncaster, to raise funds and awareness for the British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society, with a view to helping fund research into this debilitating disease.
Retinitis Pigmentosa, or RP, is a illness which causes the sufferer to gradually lose their sight and, at the moment, is incurable. You can find more information about RP on the website www.brps.org.uk/home
In a varied program the Choir performed around twenty numbers including; Saints, Deus Salutis, A Yorkshire Mixture, Take Me Home, Aura Lee and An American Trilogy, finishing the concert with a fabulous rendition of The Lord's Prayer.
Neil Birkin , from our Bass section, who's son Stephen and brother-in-law both suffer with RP, worked extremely hard to stage the event. He also gave a very enlightening and touching power point presentation on RP, as well as singing "If I Can Help Somebody".

Neil and Pam Birkin
Doug Walton excelled with his version of "Scarlett Ribbon" as did Brian Brumfitt with "Born Free"and there was hardly a dry eye in the house when Brian Harris sang"What Colour Is The Wind?"
Our young Baritone star, Scott Bramley wowed the audience with a wonderful version of the late, great Jeff Buckley's "Hallellieuha".
Kathryn, our MD, led the Choir in "Fields Of Gold", and the Choir also sang "Dame"featuring Scott and Dave Bramley, Matthew Cayton and Adrian Cattley.
An Audience of close to a hundred raised around £450.00 and an anonymous lady has made this figure up to £500.00.
Well done to everyone involved, especially Neil for all his hard work, The Reverand Pay for inviting us to sing and last but by no means least the ladies on the door, selling raffle tickets and supplying everyone with refreshments .

Concert at the parish church of St.Marys, Tickhill on saturday September 6th
The Choir performed a joint concert with The Wheatsheaf Ladies Choir from Doncaster.
The show exceeded all expectations , an audience of just under one hundred were packed into the lovely old church of St.Marys carefully avoiding the the water dripping through leaky roof.
They were rewarded for their perseverance with stunning performances from the two choirs . There were also two joint pieces ('The Lord Bless You and Keep You' and 'Every Time I Feel The Spirit') which showed, with the superb blend, that male and female voices can combine to produce fabulous sounds.
The audience were also treated to virtuoso performances from "Our kate" as she thrilled us with a ravishing rendition of "Vissi D'arte" from Giucomo Puccini's opera , Tosca , the tragic love story of Tosca and Cavaradossi; you almost felt you were in the Castel Saint Angelo in person!
