Reviews of recent performances

The Christmas Review

Christmas for most choirs starts early, usually August! But with our full autumn programme we managed to escape until the middle of November, but then we had to make up for it, especially our new boys who had a very steep learning curve!

We kicked off on December 5th with our Innkeepers Story in St. Peters, which was a lot of fun! Well done especially to Matt Cayton for a masterful performance as the Innkeeper! And of course Elaine as our story's narrator.                                     One of Guy's epic raffles

                                                                      "Where's your blue jacket Steve??"

The following Tuesday we sang to a sell-out crowd at Scawsby community centre and raised around £700 towards our new uniforms.

On Friday 11th we had our own christmas party at the Crown in Barnburgh which was a fantastic evening and went very well largely due to Brian Brumfitt, who made sure things didn't get too out of hand!       "Who is this comedian, Rhianna?""Not sure, Nannan. Not sure he's a comedian either!"

Wednesday 16th we were  back at The Crown, and on the 18th at Pastures, singing for the diners on both occasions.

Saturday 19th we sang during the Victorian Christmas Market event in St Peter's, Barnburgh.

Monday 21st we had a wedding (more about that below), and we finally finished the season on Tuesday 22nd singing for the very appreciative customers, and staff of Tesco in Balby, Doncaster.

A special mention, in no particular order, to all our fantastic soloists who each played their parts during the festivities:

Pete Atkinson. Doug Walton. Neil Birkin. Brian Harris. Kate Lloyd-Evans. Rhianna Burnage. Guy Taylor. Dyfrig Lloyd-Evans. Brian Brumfitt.

Neil, Dyfrig and Alan Bramley as the Three Kings. John Bright, Geoff Hill and Frank Edwards as the Three Shepherds . Guy as the Angel Gabriel. Arthur Briggs for sound effects, oh yes and yours truly for some bloke with a donkey!

Last but certainly not least Margaret for some really hard work and Our Kate for holding it all together.

Then of course there are the "unsung heroes" (sorry about the pun), the roadies and the ladies:

That's Colin Deakin, Guy Taylor and Frank Edwards (they're the roadies!) for making sure all the right equipment got to and from each gig.

And our ladies for making tea, selling tickets organising raffles and tombolas, and anything else i've probably missed!

That's Joyce Wheatcroft, Maralyn Deakin, Joyce Taylor, Marcia Gillott, Jan Atkinson, Pam Birkin Pam Isles, Margaret Edwards and Elaine.

And of course to the Choir for making 2009 a christmas cracker!

The Marriage Of Miss Kimberley Nash and Mr Tom Laurence Pick

On Monday 21st December 2009 The Choir sang at the wedding of Kimberley Nash and Tom Pick in St James Church, High Melton.

During the service, which was officiated by our old friend Val Clarke who recently retired as vicar of St Peter's and St James', readings were made by Michael Trees, Martin Leavey and Madeline Pick.

The Choir sang Deck The Halls, AMedley of Christmas Carols, Still Still Still and Peace On Earth/The Little Drummer Boy.

The hymns were The Holly and The Ivy, While Shepherds Watched and Joy To The World.

The Choir would like to offer congratulations to Kimberley and Tom and we wish you a long and happy life together.
