The Barnburgh Male voice Choir was formed in July 1982 by Michael Bullars and David Bramley. Following rehearsals in Barnburgh W.M.C. the Choir held a public "sing along" in the Manvers Arms in December of the same year, accompanied by Mrs.Elizabeth Cook.
The first public concert was held in Barnburgh Parochial Hall in February 1983.
Over the years the choir has taken part in numerous music festivals with a great deal of success. We have raised money for various charities including The Royal National institute for The Blind and The Scarborough Life Boat Institute.
The Choir has a current membership of thirty five, and is kept under control (at least that's what we like her to think!) by the maniacally melodious Kate Lloyd Evans! We are also very fortunate to be accompanied by Margaret briggs.
One very important part of the choir that although for the most part goes unsung (bad pun), is the group of people who do all the "other stuff" such as serving refreshments, selling raffle tickets and working front of house. They are guided and entertained by our wonderful Catering Manager Joyce Wheatcroft, who's husband Eric, sings in the Baritone section. Thankyou, Joyce and the girls, from all of us.
